Liver Loaf

  • 1kg raw pork liver OR 500g chicken liver + 500gchicken meat (I usually use breast meat)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 – 1½ cup all purpose flour
  • 1 – 2 tbsps honey (optional)

Cut raw liver into strips and process in a food processor. Pour processed liver into a large bowl. Add flour, egg and honey. Mix together until smooth. If mixture is still runny, add a little more flour.

Cover an oven tray with baking paper. Spread mixture evenly over baking paper to 1/2″ thickness. Bake at 200°C for 45 minutes – 1 hour. Let cool then cut into preferred treat size. Will keep well if stored in refrigerator for up to 1 to 2 weeks.

Chicken Liver Bits

  • ½ kg chicken liver
  • 1 ½ cups crushed Graham crackers
  • ¼ cup shredded basil or parsley (optional)
  • 3 Tbsp. honey (optional)

Process all ingredients in a food processor. Pour the mixture into a microwave safe container, approximately 8″ square or round. Microwave on high until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 10-15 minutes. Flip the liver bread and place it in the microwave again to cook for another 10-15 minutes. When done, turn out of the pan immediately. Leave to cool then cut into preferred treat size. Freeze or refrigerate.

Meat Squares

  • ½ kg ground meat (pork or chicken)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup shredded cheese
  • 1 Tbsp. crushed basil
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 ½ cup all purpose flour

Preheat oven to 150°C (300°F). Process and mix together the meat, eggs and oil until smooth. Add water as needed. Pour the mixture into a bowl. Add the cheese, basil and flour. Mix all ingredients together until combined. Spread onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until the edges are brown and middle is firm to the touch. Leave to cool then cut into preferred treat size. Freeze or refrigerate.

Apple Cinnamon Treats

  • 1 ½ cups crushed Graham cracker
  • ½ cup oatmeal
  • 1 Tsp cinnamon
  • dash of nutmeg
  • 1 apple (grated skin and all)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • ½ cup water or coconut milk

Mix all the ingredients together then spread the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20-25 minutes. Leave to cool then cut into preferred treat size. Freeze or refrigerate.

Chicken/Pork Liver Treats

  • 500 grams Chicken or Pork Liver

Boil in water for 10-15 minutes or until cooked. Take care not to over cook, liver will become mushy and hard to use as treats if you do. Let cool and store in refrigerator overnight to dry. Cut into appropriately-sized training treats for your dog.

Microwave for 5-7 minutes or until treats are dry and firm to touch but not burnt. If you don’t have a microwave you can also toast the liver bits in an oven or toaster oven at 180-200°C for 5-7minutes. May be stored in the freezer for about 2 weeks, and in the refrigerator for about 5 days.
